Among recent products of the BIPM's mechanical workshop we highlight a large number of components for:
the BIPM-NMIA-NRC calculable capacitor; and
the BIPM watt balance.
In addition the workshop has successfully contributed to:
the manufacture of a number of Pt-Ir prototypes and stainless steel mass standards;
the completion and installation of a new mass comparator at the BIPM; and
the manufacture of complex detectors in graphite for the Ionizing Radiation Department.
The BIPM workshop also produced the precision equipment necessary for:
the flexure-strip balance FB-2 used by the Mass Department;
the torsion balance used for the determination of the gravitational constant G.
